Before all this came to light last year I believed it was ex TT employees that work in India that were trying to con me. I expect they get employment with TT in India just to get into the accounts section and start conning TT customers.
On the subject of 'Unavail' showing up on your telephone; this is common too and I receive up to 4 a day. Whenever I have picked the receiver up it is always the same recording of a female American accent beginning with ' Now it is Winter' then going on to solar panels and heating etc.
It is in fact August in the UK at the moment, not quite winter at least! These are annoying calls that apparently TT cannot block even if you have all the boosts switched on for blocking unwanted calls.
I understand there are gadgets on the market that do block them though so why cannot TT get to work on something? This market is growing as they know they can bypass all the security. I know all of this and perhaps more. I have spoken with someone higher up the food chain on this and they reiterated the need to keep feeding back on any calls with numbers which customers get as they have stated that with some effort many can be traced back to source and blocked.
So I would encourage everyone to feed back on every scam call TT customers get purporting to be from TT. I have had a few of these calls, one this morning from an unavailable number.
